The idea of having my ass spread wide open sounded exciting, but the item turned out to be unusable. The rods can rotate freely, making it very difficult to get all six rods correctly aligned for insertion. During insertion, because the rods are very unstable, skin can easily get pinched between the balls at the end of the rods, which is painful. Once open, the speculum has to be held to prevent it from falling (unlike said in the description). Finally, while the speculum is easy to open by rotating the screws (even though you have to make more than ten full turns on all six screws to pull the rods by a single centimeter, so it takes quite a bit a time), it is much harder to close: friction between the rods and the ring prevents them for sliding.
For those who might be slightly claustrophobic this hood excellent because the nature of the material permits limited vision but enough not to disorientate the wearer. Hearing is not impaired. Even with your mouth nicely stretched but in insertion breathing is possible through the nose without stress. The hood fits snuggly and is easily washed.
